This month we celebrate our 88th Birthday – Congratulations to us!

We had quite a few Distinguished Guests to help us celebrate our Birthday: Presented at the Altar were Sisters Margaret Hourston, G.G.C.C.M. on ESTARL, Brenda Shaw-Radford, G.G.C.C.M. and Chair on Unfinished Business, Sisters Anita Young (Grand Secretary) and Alana Farrell, Past Grand Matrons and Brothers John Wise and Terence Radford, Past Grand Patrons. All were welcomed by the Worthy Matron, Sister Barbara Wheaton, G.G.C.C.M. on Public Relations and PGM of Vermont, conducted to the East and accorded Grand Honours. Also visiting were Brothers Glenn Munkres, Grand Chaplain and Gordon Young, Grand Sentinel.

As this was Grand Representatives Night, the following Grand Representatives were presented in the West: Onetta Munkres – Arkansas, Alana Farrell – Colorado, Vi Bainbridge – Connecticut, Heather MacDonald – Manitoba, Dorothy Winder – New Brunswick, Audrey Moses – Quebec in Vermont, Debbie Gamble – Saskatchewan and Frank Nemeth – Wisconsin.

After the reading of the Minutes, the accounts and correspondence was dealt with by the Worthy Matron. Brother Mervin Jones has once again requested a demit. The Worthy Matron will give him a call as it is believed that this is a mistake.

The Worthy Matron mentioned that we need to set up a Special Events committee to start planning events to raise funds for Brother Gordon Young’s year as Worthy Grand Patron. So far, Debbie Gamble has volunteered to be a part of this committee.

Under Good of the Order, the Chapter’s Grand Representatives gave their yearly reports. Also invited to speak on their commissions were Sisters Onetta Munkres and Audrey Moses.

After the Benevolent Collection was taken, we had the pleasure of hearing from Sister Margaret Hourston, G.G.C.C.M. and Brother Glenn Munkres, Grand Chaplain. The Worthy Matron then read a “May Birthday” poem.

After the meeting was closed, we all enjoyed some wonderful birthday cake and ice cream provided by the Worthy Matron.

Our June meeting will be Men’s night and Delegations.
