Our Worthy Matron, Sister Barbara Wheaton and Worthy Patron, Brother Robert Wheaton made it home safely from Vancouver just in time for the Worthy Grand Matron’s Official Visit.

We had many distinguished guests at this meeting. Presented at the Altar were Sister Huguette Daguerre, Worthy Grand Matron; Brother Armand Lono, Worthy Grand Patron; Brother Robert Evans, G.G.C.C.M. and Chair on Payroll and PGP of Quebec (and also our Guardian Angel); Sister Barbara Wheaton, G.G.C.C.M. on Public Relations and PGM of Vermont; and Sister Brenda Shaw-Radford, G.G.C.C.M. and Chair on Unfinished Business and PGM of Quebec. Sisters Florence Ellerton, Louise Wilkinson, Anita Young (Grand Secretary), Audrey Williamson, Alana Farrell and Beverley Sanborn, Past Grand Matrons and Brothers Terence Radford, William Winter and Douglas Black, Past Grand Patrons. All were conducted to the East and accorded Grand Honours.

Also visiting were the following Grand Officers: Sisters Fabienne Winter, AGM; Judy Christiansen, Grand Conductress; Pierrette Langevin, Grand Trustee; Huguette Strasbourg, Grand Organist; Sandra Ewart, Grand Esther; Marjorie Empey, Grand Martha; and Maria Roussakis, Grand Warder and Brothers Eric Sanborn, AGP; Archie Christiansen, Grand Trustee and Gordon Young, Grand Sentinel.

Under the communications, a request for Demit was received from our Brother Walter Shestowsky. As he was clear on the books, the request was granted with regret.

Sister Brenda Shaw-Radford, under Unfinished Business, reported on her purchases of wool for both 2008 and 2009. She mentioned that Sister Dorothy Gauley-Ellis, who is making afghans, etc. for us, received 17 bags of wool, so she is set for awhile.

Under Good of the Order, the Bible was informally closed for a special floral presentation given by the Star Point Officers in honour of our Worthy Grand Matron, Sister Huguette and Worthy Grand Patron, Brother Armand. After the Bible was re-opened informally, the Worthy Grand Matron and Worthy Grand Patron were invited to address the chapter.

The Worthy Grand Patron presented the chapter with Yogi’s Basket for the members to fill up. These baskets, presented to all the chapters, will be drawn at the Grand Chapter Sessions in October. The Worthy Grand Matron and Worthy Grand Patron were then presented with monetary donations, on behalf of the chapter, towards their special project.

Sisters Anita Young, Grand Secretary, Pierrette Langevin, Grant Trustee and Brother Gordon Young, Grand Sentinel were presented with a monetary gift from the chapter for their dedication as Grand Officers. Sister Anita and Brother Gordon presented a donation toward the WGM’s and WGP’s special project in lieu of gifts to the Grand Officers.

The Worthy Matron said that she and Brother Bob had a wonderful time out West and she thanked those who helped out while they were away.

After the benevolent collection was taken, those approaching the Birthday Box were congratulated by the Worthy Patron. Brother Robert Evans, G.G.C.C.M. and Sister Fabienne Winter, AGM were then invited to address the chapter.

After the meeting closed, we all enjoyed a wonderful social with lots of fellowship.

Until next month.
